Claim Specialist – Property Field Inspection

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Perform on-site evaluations and inspections of damages to both residential and commercial properties.

• Serve as the initial point of contact for insured clients, clarifying coverage, estimating damages, and guiding them through the claims process.

• Work collaboratively with policyholders, insurance agents, and other relevant parties to collect information and resolve claims effectively.

• Maintain professional interactions with parties who may express strong emotions or concerns.

• Deliver outstanding customer service while addressing inquiries and concerns.

• Collect evidence, document findings, and create comprehensive reports.

• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial property claims with exposure limits up to $500,000.

• Assess coverage and policy terms to ensure claim validity and adherence to regulations.

• Negotiate and settle claims within the authorized limits.

• Work remotely while utilizing a mobile office/vehicle for in-person meetings.

• Manage claims within the designated Los Angeles area and occasionally travel outside this region to assist other territories.

• Complete virtual work from home as necessary.

• Proficiency in interpreting detailed policies, guidelines, or technical information and applying them accurately.

• Ability to swiftly learn new concepts, processes, and terminology.

• Effective interaction skills with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing difficult or emotional discussions.

• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical abilities.

• Proficient in using mobile and desktop tools for documenting and supporting claims both in the field and remotely.

• Physical capability to walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, stoop, lift, carry, unfold, climb ladders, traverse roofs, and crawl in confined spaces.

• Completion of Rope and Harness Safety Training may be required.

• A valid driver's license is mandatory.

• Successful completion of necessary training, applicable proficiency and licensing exams, MVR checks, and background checks is required.

• A Bachelor’s Degree in a related area such as Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Construction Management, or a similar field is preferred.

• Prior customer service experience is preferred.

• Understanding of property insurance concepts and general claims handling practices is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of residential and commercial construction and materials is preferred.

• Familiarity with water mitigation principles and inspection procedures is preferred.

• Working knowledge of Xactimate and XactContents is preferred.

• Willingness to work flexible schedules, overtime, and/or irregular hours is essential.
