This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.
• Oversee a caseload that includes real estate litigation and business litigation.
• Guide cases from the initial intake strategy through to settlement, mediation/arbitration, or trial.
• Formulate case-specific legal strategies that align with client objectives, risk appetite, and budget considerations.
• Maintain proactive timelines for cases, manage deadlines, and ensure progress on all matters.
• Draft and present both dispositive and non-dispositive motions, as well as manage related hearings.
• Develop discovery strategies, which encompass written discovery, meet-and-confers, motions to compel, protective orders, and evidentiary positioning.
• Conduct and defend depositions, as well as prepare witnesses for testimony.
• Represent clients in court, primarily via remote appearances, for both contested and uncontested matters, motion hearings, and trials.
• Organize evidence, witnesses, exhibits, outlines, and themes for trials.
• Communicate effectively and consistently with clients, set expectations, and offer practical recommendations.
• Enhance templates, workflows, and internal processes for improved efficiency.
• Leverage advanced legal technology and automation tools to boost efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
• Acquire knowledge of case types and expectations, managing files from start to finish.
• Contribute ideas for workflow and template improvements that enhance quality or save time.
• Play a role in expanding and developing the division, enhancing the firm’s reputation, and aiding in the attraction, development, and retention of team members.
• Must hold an active New Mexico Bar license in good standing.
• Required experience in trial and motions practice, including participation in jury or bench trials and comfort level in court appearances.
• Minimum of three years of civil litigation experience.
• Strong understanding of the New Mexico Rules of Civil Procedure is essential.
• Capability to manage disputes through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial processes.
• Professional judgment, responsiveness, and effective client-facing communication in a remote setting are necessary.
• Preferred experience in general civil litigation or closely related fields.
• Preferred background in real estate litigation, HOA/COA matters, landlord/tenant issues, or business disputes.
• Preference for candidates comfortable in a fast-paced practice with defined deadlines and outcomes.
• Candidate should be located in or around Santa Fe; Albuquerque is preferred.
• Must currently reside in New Mexico.
