Chief Technology Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of engineering processes from start to finish, encompassing systems, personnel, and engineering standards.

• Maintain speed, simplicity, and accountability as the organization expands and workforce increases.

• Establish benchmarks for uptime, incident response, and secure modifications to systems that handle financial transactions.

• Lead and nurture the engineering leadership team, which includes hiring and replacing managers and directors as needed.

• Actively engage in senior-level recruitment.

• Define Wave’s AI vision while promoting production AI and secure coding-agent tools.

• Strategize architecture and organizational design to facilitate growth into new markets.

• Serve as the engineering representative to engineers, non-engineers, leadership, and regulators through effective written communication.

• Report directly to CEO Drew Durbin.

• Travel to operational markets at least biannually to remain connected with local realities, products, teams, and users.

⛳️ Requirements

• Managed an engineering team of around 100 individuals, including managers overseeing other personnel.

• Possess a software engineering background with the capability to read code and understand technical discussions.

• Hold accountability for systems where failures were costly, particularly those involving finances, safety, or regulated data.

• Experience in recruiting senior engineering leaders.

• Proven ability to transition someone out of an unsuccessful role.

• Exceptional writing skills that are clear, concise, and persuasive for non-engineering audiences.

• Demonstrated perspective and practical experience with AI in the engineering field.

• Strong belief in Wave’s mission and the capacity to articulate that motivation.
