This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alaska, +12 more states.
• Define and take ownership of the multi-year technology roadmap and architectural strategy that aligns with business objectives.
• Assess and enhance the technology stack to ensure scalability, security, and reliability.
• Advocate for product stability and platform resilience.
• Manage decisions regarding build-vs-buy and vendor/technology partnerships.
• Maintain existing legacy platforms while developing potential migration strategies and optimizing profits.
• Lead a geographically distributed engineering organization located in the US and India.
• Recruit, nurture, and retain engineering talent to build a robust leadership pipeline.
• Establish best practices in engineering, focusing on code quality, testing, CI/CD, incident response, and security.
• Foster collaboration and communication among distributed teams.
• Collaborate with Product teams on roadmap prioritization and assess technical feasibility.
• Work alongside Sales and Customer Success on technical escalations and enterprise requirements.
• Represent Engineering in executive strategic planning, budgeting, and initiatives at the board level.
• Oversee engineering KPIs, including uptime, reliability, velocity, technical debt reduction, defect reporting, and AI utilization.
• Manage security and compliance matters, including SOC II audits, penetration testing, and privacy regulations.
• Administer the engineering budget, SaaS platform margins, headcount planning, and vendor contracts.
• Ensure adherence to SaaS data security, privacy, and industry regulations.
• Achieve first-year outcomes, including a detailed technical roadmap, enhanced stability and uptime, improved collaboration between US and India teams, and milestones in senior leadership hiring and retention.
• Over 12 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years in a senior technology leadership role, such as CTO or equivalent, within a SaaS environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading distributed or global engineering teams, preferably including teams based in India.
• Proven success in scaling engineering organizations from startup to mid-market SaaS.
• Experience in developing or scaling AI/ML-powered product features and promoting AI adoption within engineering.
• Strong technical background in modern web architecture, cloud infrastructures like AWS, Azure, or GCP, APIs, and data security.
• Experience collaborating with executive leadership on business strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, particularly in conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and board members.
• Experience with M&A technical due diligence, platform migrations, or significant re-architecture projects is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States.
