Chief of Staff – Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Coordinate the three teams: Product, Core, and Back Office

• Maintain an overview of the dependency map

• Identify who is awaiting what, from whom, and for how long

• Make the necessary micro-decisions for effective coordination swiftly

• Transform product direction into weekly execution across the three teams

• Identify blockers, assign ownership, and drive them to resolution

• Manage external dependencies and follow up with partners

• Anticipate potential issues several weeks in advance

• Create essential tools and tracking dashboards

• Provide visibility and uphold a streamlined operating cadence

• Organize beneficial rituals and eliminate any unnecessary additions

• Handle interruptions and administrative tasks

• Push back against last-minute scope changes and escalate risks promptly

• Collect feedback post-project and integrate it into decision-making

• Source candidates, recruit, guide the decision-making process, and onboard new hires

• Develop team members through 1:1 sessions, constructive feedback, mentoring, and development plans

• Oversee the entire performance review process

• Maintain technical credibility

• Subsequently recruit the personnel required to delegate tasks that should no longer be handled personally

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience founding a company or contributing to one as an early employee

• Experience taking ownership and driving a broad area, even without a specific formal title

• Ability to make decisions independently and recognize what is outside your remit

• Experience in building tools, launching surveys, or developing partnerships independently

• Ability to achieve results without formal authority

• Experience in unblocking cross-functional challenges and driving decisions to implementation

• Technical background in software; a background solely in facilitation, coaching, or consulting without hands-on technical experience is not suitable

• Experience with performance review processes and soliciting honest feedback

• Familiarity with 360-degree feedback

• Ability to lead effective 1:1 sessions and tailor support to individual requirements

• Strong communication skills and interpersonal intelligence

• Ability to diagnose systems rather than individuals

• Available and accessible during the day

• French is implicitly required by the posting; no specific degree or minimum years of experience are mandated
