Staff Full Stack Engineer, Technical Chief of Staff

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Maintain a comprehensive overview of Shopping's ongoing and future initiatives, encompassing both technical and business dependencies.

• Proactively engage with enterprise teams to ensure necessary platform support, tools, access, and approvals are secured.

• Prepare and deliver updates on Shopping's progress and objectives to senior leadership at Capital One.

• Obtain the necessary decisions, investments, and endorsements required for Shopping's initiatives.

• Navigate the complexities of security, risk, compliance, procurement, and platform governance on behalf of Shopping.

• Facilitate collaboration between Shopping and centralized platform and infrastructure teams.

• Manage cross-team dependency orchestration for significant cross-cutting initiatives.

• Represent the engineering team of Shopping, articulating and defending architecture and technical decisions to partners in enterprise platform, security, and risk.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Engineering).

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), and data architecture.

• Preferred: A Master's Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.

• Preferred: Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture and design patterns, web technologies, distributed HPC and ML systems, cloud computing, and data architecture.

• More than 10 years of professional coding experience in widely used programming languages such as Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala.

• At least 8 years of experience with databases and database management systems.

• Over 10 years of professional experience throughout the complete system development lifecycle.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.

• More than 10 years of experience with networking protocols and integration with third-party distributed systems.

• At least 5 years of experience mentoring senior engineers and fostering professional development within technical teams.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience leading cross-domain architectural reviews and establishing coding and design standards.

• Expertise in the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools.
