Character Art Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of the artistic and technical excellence within the Character Art discipline.

• Ensure that creative leaders deliver effective guidance, conduct reviews, and provide constructive feedback.

• Mentor, support, and advise creative leadership teams in India and various other locations.

• Collaborate directly with clients to grasp their expectations, translate their feedback into actionable directives, and resolve any quality or confidence concerns.

• Coach and nurture Associate Art Directors, Leads, and senior artists.

• Oversee quality, efficiency, first-time approvals, rework, late-night work patterns, employee engagement, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Recognize trends and drive enhancements alongside Production and creative leadership.

• Contribute to staffing, capacity planning, project scoping, capability development, problem-solving, and selected new business ventures.

• Provide support to a Character Art organization comprising up to 300 artists through Associate Art Directors, Art Leads, and production leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive professional experience in Character Art for video games, including significant senior leadership experience.

• Outstanding artistic judgment and comprehensive knowledge of contemporary Character Art pipelines and production methodologies.

• Proven ability to lead and influence large, distributed organizations via other leaders.

• Excellent client-facing, communication, mentoring, coaching, and collaboration abilities.

• Capability to identify intricate problems, ascertain root causes, and facilitate practical solutions.

• Strong understanding of the interplay between creative quality, operational performance, client satisfaction, and team health.

• Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary to engage with teams in India and other global locations, with periodic travel to India, typically 1–2 times per year.
