This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist the CDI Manager in managing the daily operations of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists and team leads.
• Ensure consistent program coverage, promote effective team performance, and align with contractual obligations and CDI best-practice standards.
• Oversee daily CDI assignments and adjust staffing as needed to ensure sufficient coverage.
• Track productivity, utilization, compliance, key performance indicators, and conduct monthly quality audits.
• Provide the CDI team with the necessary tools, resources, and guidance for concurrent record reviews and provider queries.
• Collaborate with facility CDI teams, client stakeholders, and internal leadership.
• Offer expert oversight and leadership for CDI team operations.
• Evaluate health system opportunities related to contractual requirements, CDI best-practice metrics, and program performance.
• Create and implement processes and initiatives aimed at enhancing clinical documentation performance.
• Organize priorities, monitor progress, and facilitate the execution of CDI initiatives.
• Maintain communication and collaboration with medical staff, clinical departments, and facility leadership.
• Promote the use of CDI technology tools, dashboards, and reporting capabilities.
• Ensure accountability for key performance indicators and quality expectations.
• Provide daily oversight of the program, focusing on productivity, quality, education, training, auditing, reporting, performance improvement, and standardization.
• Support accurate documentation, coded data integrity, reporting, provider profiling, and acuity capture.
• Assist with the implementation, optimization, data entry, reporting, and tracking of CDI technology.
• Relay program updates, risks, and requirements to the CDI Manager and/or Director.
• Aid in the interview, onboarding, and training processes.
• Conduct quarterly check-ins and year-end performance evaluations.
• Approve timesheets and oversee project utilization tracking.
• Provide status updates to operations leadership, the CDI Manager and/or Director, and facility department leaders.
• Facilitate meetings, discussions, and work sessions.
• Identify and communicate project obstacles, risks, and issues while collaborating on solutions.
• Detect technology interface or reporting issues, submit vendor service tickets, and coordinate resolution with vendors, facility IT, and internal IT teams.
• Must possess at least one of the following: RHIA, RHIT, RN, MD, or equivalent clinical credentials.
• Required to maintain all credentials and certifications throughout employment.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in acute care hospital CDI.
• At least 2 years of prior management or supervisory experience is necessary.
• Familiarity with encoder usage and DRG assignment, including MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies.
• CCDS or CDIP certification is preferred.
• Strong clinical knowledge of disease processes is essential.
• Understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and disease processes is required.
• Knowledge of Coding Clinic Guidelines and federal updates to MS-DRG and APR-DRG systems is necessary.
• Excellent communication skills are a must.
• Ability to engage with physicians professionally in complex or sensitive documentation discussions.
• Capability to conduct presentations for facility physicians and leadership.
• Must maintain a HIPAA-compliant remote workstation or office environment.
• Ability to operate in a remote, professional office setting using virtual communication and collaboration tools.
