This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and confirm the accuracy of diagnostic and procedural codes utilized by the front-end coding and clinical teams.

• Extract data from the electronic health record to create patient databases for research and assessment purposes.

• Maintain adherence to coding standards, third-party reimbursement policies, and regulatory requirements.

• Detect patterns and trends in coding information and report issues to facilitate root-cause analysis.

• Support team members and work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance coding precision and efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.

• At least two (2) years of coding experience is necessary.

• An additional specialty coding certification or five (5) years of coding experience is preferred.

• Previous experience in a healthcare revenue cycle role is essential.

• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.

• Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding is necessary.

• Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, and pharmacology is required.

• Preferred qualifications include one to two (1-2) years of college education or additional coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration, or Medical Record Sciences.

• Specialty coding experience is also preferred.
