Capital Governance Expert

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Act as the capital governance leader and technical expert in CAPEX for the designated business category.

• Enhance capital portfolio performance, project governance, compliance, capability development, and execution support across the assigned factories.

• Combine resources from Factory Engineering, Category Engineering, Corporate Engineering, Finance, Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Hub.

• Offer leadership, coaching, and guidance to Factory Engineering teams.

• Maintain visibility and governance over the capital portfolio.

• Assist in annual, three-year, and long-term capital planning and prioritization.

• Ensure alignment of capital investments with factory Master Plans, MBS priorities, and growth strategies of the category.

• Track capital envelope performance while identifying risks, constraints, and resource deficiencies.

• Implement stage-gate governance and EFCA compliance throughout the lifecycle of projects.

• Confirm that project charters, financial justifications, cost estimates, risk assessments, schedules, and project management plans adhere to standards.

• Carry out compliance reviews for capital projects and disseminate lessons learned and best practices.

• Assist in concept development, feasibility studies, option analysis, design reviews, design freeze, and change management.

• Address complex technical and operational issues impacting safety, quality, reliability, cost, or business continuity.

• Utilize engineering resources, SMEs, technical competency units, vendors, and external experts effectively.

• Oversee capital budgets, forecasts, cash flow, EAC, and performance of capital spending.

• Identify and escalate risks related to budget, schedule, and scope.

• Collaborate with Finance to enhance forecast accuracy and capital performance.

• Ensure that projects achieve approved financial targets and anticipated business benefits.

• Confirm adherence to safety regulations, food safety standards, GMPs, environmental laws, and engineering standards.

• Support risk assessments, audits, regulatory compliance, NCE, NEE, ammonia safety, and related engineering initiatives.

• Assist in procurement and contractor management, ensuring compliance with bidding, qualification, and engineering procurement.

• Assess engineering service providers, contractors, vendors, and technical consultants.

• Facilitate the implementation of automation, E&A, MES, digital manufacturing, and productivity technologies.

• Standardize technology solutions and advocate for innovative engineering practices.

• Provide CAPEX coaching, leadership, and training to Factory Engineering teams.

• Cultivate expertise in project management, governance, financial management, and capital planning.

• Encourage knowledge sharing, deployment of best practices, succession planning, and development of engineering talent.

• Promote collaboration among Engineering, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and other departments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical, Industrial, or equivalent).

• A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience in manufacturing settings.

• Proven track record in leading capital projects and managing capital portfolios.

• Experience in capital planning, project governance, budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight.

• Familiarity with TPM, NCE, asset management, and continuous improvement methodologies.

• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Quality, and Corporate Engineering.

• Strong technical, leadership, and managerial capabilities.

• Excellent project and portfolio management skills.

• Solid financial acumen and expertise in capital budgeting.

• Ability to influence across various organizational levels.

• Strong skills in conflict resolution and stakeholder management.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Strategic thinker with the capability to convert business strategy into actionable capital plans.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to lead through uncertainty and organizational change.

• Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and related engineering systems.

• Capability to develop others and enhance organizational capacity.

• PMP certification is preferred.

• An MBA or advanced technical degree is preferred.
