Cancer Registrar

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify relevant reportable cases for abstract entry in accordance with national and central registry guidelines.

• Abstract all analytic and non-analytic cases following the standards set by the Commission on Cancer.

• Conduct annual follow-up reviews for all active patients.

• Engage with patients and their designated contacts in a professional and discreet manner.

• Maintain accurate work records, policies, and procedures.

• Achieve departmental quality, performance, and productivity standards.

• Execute software edits to guarantee quality and the completion of all required fields.

• Conduct quality assurance/performance improvement audits, tracking, and trending for the mandated 10% review of analytic cases.

• Collaborate with physicians to ensure adherence to quality standards and correction processes.

• Act as the gatekeeper for case finding and allocate cases among registrars.

• Complete Missouri and Kansas edits on a monthly basis and ensure that NCDB edits are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.

• Generate quarterly Infoview reports of staged cases and assist in maintaining QA review spreadsheet calculations/formulas.

• Inform the Manager and Supervisor of quarterly cases staged for the Cancer Committee.

• Coordinate and monitor RQRS/CP3R studies and report progress to the Cancer Registry staff and Cancer Committee.

• Accurately submit cases in a timely manner.

• Reach out to physician offices when treatment information is absent from the medical record.

• Track cancer conference attendance and maintain the compliance reporting grid for the Cancer Committee.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's Degree in a related field.

• High School Graduate.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a registrar or in abstracting.

• Certified Tumor Registrar - National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA).

• Experience with Epic and Cancer Registry software.

• Ability to perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies required for the assigned unit or department.

• Compliance with HIPAA regulations is mandatory.

• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
