• Identify and seek out new business prospects, including opportunities to expand into additional markets and industries.
• Establish and nurture strong relationships with both existing and prospective clients, understanding their requirements and delivering solutions that provide value.
• Collaborate with various departments such as marketing, product development, and operations to ensure cohesive support for sales initiatives.
• Examine market trends, competitive dynamics, and customer feedback to pinpoint areas for growth and enhancement.
• Keep abreast of industry changes, regulations, and best practices to guide sales strategies and decision-making processes.
• Engage directly with new clients to facilitate and manage business growth by fostering strong relationships with operational departments and different management tiers.
• Acquire in-depth knowledge of customers and the sectors in which they operate, conducting market analyses and competitive landscape assessments, including 1, 3, and 5-year forecasts on industry trends.
• Create and implement strategies to boost customer engagement by promoting additional products and services across all customer divisions.
• Establish strategic objectives and tactical plans to achieve substantial growth while cultivating a culture oriented towards achieving those goals in a high success/high reward environment.
• Actively engage at customer sites to secure incremental business through proactive business development, necessitating the formation of strong relationships with various management levels.
• Periodic international travel may be required to collaboratively develop opportunities in foreign markets.
• Collaborate closely with customer engineers and procurement teams to ensure that product and design specifications are accurately identified.
• Work alongside Boyd Engineering to oversee the design and development of customer solutions.
• Showcase and demonstrate products and solutions using prototypes, samples, and marketing materials, providing value-added insights to customers.
• Leverage knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes to illustrate and emphasize Boyd’s unique value propositions.
• Oversee the quotation process. In conjunction with the Sales Operations Team, conduct technical reviews of engineering drawings and specifications, compiling the necessary information for formal quotations, including drawings, sample components, technical data, volumes, and material sources for submission to Boyd Estimating.
• Manage the preparation of comprehensive quotation packages with pricing to optimize revenue while also maximizing Gross Margin.
• In collaboration with the Sales Operations Team, track and manage project progress to ensure successful attainment of customer milestones and production timelines, from inception through implementation.
• Engage with clients on all commercial matters, including credit and shipping terms, legal obligations, payments, and more.
• Oversee relationship aspects per the terms and conditions of agreements, as well as negotiate new agreements in coordination with Boyd management.
• Address special customer needs or complaints as required.
• Utilize Salesforce CRM daily to document all business opportunities, customer intelligence, and outcomes. Employ this and other tools to regularly and transparently share opportunities and current status with colleagues and management.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical selling position with a proven record of success in the manufacturing sector.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to establish rapport and negotiate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with a results-driven attitude and a commitment to fostering business growth.
• Demonstrated capability to develop and implement sales strategies, including market analysis, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Proficient in using CRM software and other sales tools to monitor performance and manage customer relationships.
