This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Manage a daily portfolio consisting of approximately four to ten client accounts.
β’ Ensure that client records are up-to-date and ready for review.
β’ Organize incoming transactions and resolve uncategorized or unmatched items.
β’ Follow up with clients to obtain any missing documentation.
β’ Oversee the flow of dedicated accounting emails from clients.
β’ Sort and act on incoming items, escalating CPA-level inquiries to the controller.
β’ Collaborate directly with client-side accounting personnel.
β’ Review and amend client entries while providing coaching on recurring issues to staff.
β’ Set priorities among multiple clients and manage competing deadlines effectively.
β’ Communicate with client contacts in a direct and professional manner.
β’ Execute full-cycle bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online.
β’ Handle transaction categorization, bank and credit card reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, as well as month-end close to trial balance.
β’ Prepare GST/HST and provincial sales tax returns.
β’ Process payroll as assigned.
β’ Utilize cloud accounting and automation tools while adhering to client fee expectations.
β’ Assist in the onboarding and setup of new Client Advisory Services clients.
β’ Prepare working papers and month-end files for review by the controller.
β’ Consolidate questions and escalate issues that require CPA judgment.
β’ Identify process improvements and advisory opportunities.
β’ Complete all assigned duties.
β’ At least 1 year of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, managing files through to trial balance.
β’ Proficient in QuickBooks Online with hands-on experience.
β’ Ability to manage multiple clients or entities simultaneously.
β’ Demonstrated skill in prioritizing tasks independently amid competing deadlines.
β’ Familiarity with Canadian payroll processing is essential.
β’ Knowledge of GST/HST and provincial sales tax compliance is required.
β’ Strong written communication skills are necessary.
β’ A reliable home office setup with secure, stable internet access is required.
β’ Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
β’ Working hours should substantially overlap with Central Time.
β’ Experience in public practice, outsourced accounting, client advisory, or virtual bookkeeping is a plus.
β’ Previous work experience with or under the review of a CPA is advantageous.
β’ QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification or a Certified Professional Bookkeeper designation, either completed or in progress, is welcomed but not mandatory.
β’ Familiarity with Dext, Plooto, Float, or Karbon is advantageous.
β’ Exposure to Xero or Sage is beneficial.
β’ Must be self-sufficient, detail-oriented, accurate, diplomatic, business-savvy, profit-minded, and a clear professional communicator.
β’ 4-Day Work Week: Four 8-hour days.
