Biotech Investment Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Evaluate drug assets at both commercial and clinical stages across various therapeutic areas.

• Assess mechanisms of action, biological rationale, clinical data, development progress, and regulatory considerations.

• Analyze competitive positioning within relevant therapeutic and treatment landscapes.

• Identify scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial value drivers.

• Highlight unsupported assumptions, evidence gaps, or significant risks within asset evaluations.

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

• Evaluate pipeline quality, company strategy, competitive differentiation, and key catalysts.

• Assess the relationship between individual drug assets and the overall valuation of the company.

• Review investment theses for analytical rigor, supporting evidence, and internal coherence.

• Apply consistent investment judgment across approximately 5–10 companies during the pilot phase.

• Interpret clinical trial outcomes and evaluate the strength and relevance of available evidence.

• Assess potential differentiation against existing and emerging standards of care.

• Analyze addressable markets, competitive dynamics, development timelines, and commercial opportunities.

• Evaluate how clinical, regulatory, and market developments may impact asset and company valuations.

• Distinguish between well-supported conclusions and speculative investment assumptions.

• Develop structured evaluation rubrics for biotech firms and drug-development programs.

• Critique existing rubrics for completeness, realism, and investment relevance.

• Define criteria that reflect seasoned biotech investment judgment.

• Identify missing considerations or weak assumptions in analytical frameworks.

• Provide clear written justifications to support evaluation decisions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in evaluating biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare companies or assets.

• Professional experience as a biotech or healthcare investment analyst, preferably within a specialist investment fund.

• Strong knowledge of biotech and pharmaceutical drug-development programs.

• Experience in assessing drug assets from scientific, clinical, commercial, and investment viewpoints.

• Deep understanding of clinical data, mechanisms of action, competitive landscapes, and biotech valuation drivers.

• Ability to evaluate both individual assets and the broader companies that develop them.

• Experience in developing, reviewing, or presenting investment theses.

• Strong analytical judgment and capability to identify unsupported or incomplete assumptions.

• US-based or possessing extensive professional experience within the US biotech and healthcare investment market.

• Availability for approximately 10–20 hours over an initial pilot period of 1–2 weeks.

• Part-time independent contractor arrangement.

• Work must be conducted without employing any confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, fund, institution, or other third party.

• H1-B and STEM OPT support is not available for this engagement.
