This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Review patient invoices for accuracy and completeness in a timely manner.
• Gather any missing information to ensure claims are submitted accurately and promptly.
• Implement insurance guidelines and regulations, including those for Medicare and Medicaid.
• Comply with billing policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Determine the correct party to bill, whether it be the insurance provider or the patient.
• Complete mandatory billing checklists prior to submission.
• Follow up to ensure documentation is collected in a timely manner.
• Liaise with clinic staff and insurance companies effectively.
• Confirm that essential documentation is included or coordinate with the relevant clinic to update records.
• Review and submit medical claims to insurance companies from a diverse range of providers and clinics.
• Utilize knowledge of the financial processes, which include scheduling, billing, and collections.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum suitable fit for the position, as assessed by the Talent Bullseye evaluation; Hanger will conduct the Talent Bullseye as a part of the selection process.
• Experience in a medical office setting (preferred).
• Familiarity with EMR systems (NextGen and/or OnBase) (preferred).
• Proficiency in Spanish (preferred).
• Knowledge of DME/Orthotic (preferred).
• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, along with oral and written communication capabilities, including the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
• Resourceful and adaptable team player who excels in establishing trusting relationships.
• Working knowledge of HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology for private payers, state, and federal plans, including coding, billing, and reimbursement protocols.
• Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, HCPC/CPT, and other coding systems.
• Proficient in computer skills, including Windows-based office applications (e.g., Word, Excel) and automated billing systems.
• Capability to operate necessary office equipment, including fax machines, calculators, postage machines, and copiers.
• Knowledge of applicable state, federal, and regional collection and reimbursement laws.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented while thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and think creatively.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Proficient in basic math and accounting skills.
