Billing Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the management of insurance Accounts Receivable (A/R) under the supervision of the Senior Manager of RCM.

• Act as a primary contact for patients and their families as they navigate billing or insurance inquiries.

• Address insurance claim denials and collaborate with insurance providers, payers, and third parties to secure timely and accurate reimbursements.

• Investigate claim denials through insurance portals to resubmit clean claims or prepare formal appeals.

• Communicate with patients and families via phone, email, and patient engagement platforms to update insurance or payment information, establish payment plans, and respond to billing questions.

• Process credit card transactions as well as insurance and patient refunds.

• Ensure that patient responsibilities are accurately reflected in invoices.

• Collaborate with clinicians and internal teams to resolve billing issues related to patient payments or insurance coverage.

• 2–4 years of experience in healthcare billing, specifically working with insurance companies and EHR/PM systems (e.g., AthenaHealth, Epic, eClinicalWorks).

• 1–3 years of experience in a customer service role.

• Extensive knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and insurance terminology.

• Proven ability to uphold strict HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality.
