This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Act as the physician subject matter expert in Behavioral Health, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy programs.
β’ Evaluate intricate authorization requests, appeals, and determinations of medical necessity concerning behavioral health and autism treatment services.
β’ Facilitate peer-to-peer consultations with providers while employing evidence-based clinical criteria to endorse suitable care decisions.
β’ Offer clinical direction to utilization management, quality assurance, case management, and operational teams.
β’ Interpret and implement Medicaid regulations, medical policies, and guidelines for behavioral health treatments.
β’ Partner with clients and internal stakeholders to enhance healthcare outcomes, quality initiatives, and access to behavioral health services.
β’ Assess clinical documentation and aid in making high-quality, evidence-based care decisions.
β’ Collaborate with providers, clients, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
β’ Perform peer-to-peer reviews, complex case consultations, and medical necessity assessments.
β’ Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
β’ Active, unrestricted medical license in the United States.
β’ Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in California.
β’ Board Certification in Psychiatry, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics, Neurology, or a related specialty.
β’ At least five years of post-residency clinical experience in treating individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and behavioral health conditions.
β’ In-depth knowledge of ABA therapy, behavioral health treatment models, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
β’ Experience with Medicaid programs, utilization management, prior authorization, appeals, or medical review activities.
β’ Exceptional analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
β’ Capability to work independently in a remote setting.
