Behavioral Health Medical Biller – Part-time

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Review encounters and charges for accuracy prior to claim submission

• Submit accurate claims via the practice management system and clearinghouse

• Address clearinghouse and payer rejections and resubmit amended claims

• Follow up on claims that are unpaid or underpaid through payer portals and phone communications

• Investigate denials, make corrections, resubmit claims, and prepare appeals as necessary

• Record insurance payments and adjustments from ERAs and EOBs

• Verify CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes against documentation and payer regulations

• Manage aging A/R reports and prioritize accounts based on age and dollar value

• Clearly document all account activities in the billing system

• Safeguard patient information and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

• Assist in daily billing operations for a multi-provider outpatient mental health practice, from claim submission through payment processing and denial follow-up

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in U.S. healthcare insurance

• Practical experience in claim submission, denial management, and A/R follow-up

• Proficient understanding of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding

• Knowledge of commercial insurance and government health plans

• Experience utilizing payer portals and insurance websites

• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English

• Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up capabilities

• Capacity to work independently and handle multiple patient accounts

• Reliable internet connection and an appropriate remote work environment

• AAPC CPC or CPB certification is preferred

• Experience billing for psychiatry, behavioral health, or mental health practices is preferred

• Familiarity with glaceEMR (Glenwood Systems) is preferred

• Knowledge of Connecticut insurance plans, such as HUSKY Health, is preferred

• Experience with psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy add-on codes is preferred

• Must be available during Eastern Time business hours

• Preference for applicants based in the Philippines
