Background Investigator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

📋 Description

• Successfully complete a comprehensive 6–7 week training program for new Investigators, conducted both virtually and in person.

• Carry out in-person background investigations to assess the employment suitability of individuals needing access to sensitive or classified information from the U.S. Government.

• Engage in daily travel while performing investigations.

• Schedule and facilitate face-to-face interviews with subjects, neighbors, employers, friends, and family members.

• Conduct record searches at police departments, courthouses, educational institutions, financial organizations, and medical/mental health facilities.

• Clearly and concisely document all gathered information using a government-issued computer system.

• Operate independently while also collaborating with a team of Investigators and a Field Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of general work experience or a bachelor's degree may be considered.

• Prior experience in conducting federal background investigations is preferred.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility for a Top Secret clearance.

• An active federal background investigation with a T5 adjudication is preferred.

• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Candidates must reside within 30 miles of the Tucson city center.

• Daily local travel and potential travel outside the primary work area as required.

• Temporary Duty Assignments or remote travel for 14–30 days away from home may be necessary.

• A valid driver's license and consistent access to reliable transportation are required.

• Sufficient motor vehicle insurance is necessary.

• Proficient typing ability, with a recommendation of 40+ words per minute.

• Capability to work concurrently within multiple computer programs.

• Ability to speak for extended durations and hear adequately for both in-person and telephone communications.

• Competence in recording, reading, and transcribing words and numbers accurately.

• Strong grammar and writing skills.

• Professional interaction skills with others.

• Capacity to write for extended periods.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Keen attention to detail during fieldwork.

• High degree of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.

• Professional attire is required.

• Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds, climb stairs, walk extensively, stand for long periods, and drive in adverse or nighttime conditions.
