Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Develop and manage scalable backend systems that support AI-driven functionalities in a production environment.

• Architect high-performance inference pipelines, orchestration workflows, and establish clear service boundaries surrounding machine learning models.

• Take responsibility for system health and observability, which includes performance monitoring, structured logging, alerting, and incident management.

• Enhance system latency and throughput using intelligent caching methods, request batching, and response streaming techniques.

• Work in collaboration with clients and machine learning engineers to provide stable, high-efficiency APIs for both mobile and desktop applications.

• Lead the inference and orchestration layer that powers intelligent features across various client platforms.

⛳️ Requirements

• A strong background in core backend software engineering within production settings.

• Proficiency in Python and Node.js.

• Experience with infrastructure tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Practical knowledge in building and maintaining high-throughput, low-latency distributed microservices.

• Comprehensive understanding of contemporary AI inference paradigms, including large language models, vector embeddings, and multimodal architectures.

• Direct experience in debugging and profiling complex distributed systems under substantial load.

• Familiarity with commercial AI APIs like OpenAI and Anthropic.

• Knowledge of self-hosted open-source models.

• A production-oriented mindset with a focus on delivery, observing live system performance, and quick iteration.
