Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage core services that support an enterprise AI platform.

• Contribute to the AI gateway, orchestration layer, entitlements, tenancy model, data access strategies, integration frameworks, APIs, and platform services.

• Take full ownership of services from design and implementation to testing, deployment, reliability, and ongoing support.

• Create dependable platform APIs and developer experiences for both internal and external users.

• Construct and uphold multi-tenant systems, ensuring tenant isolation, service boundaries, and platform-level enforcement mechanisms.

• Develop integration frameworks, connector patterns, governed data access protocols, and reliable data on-ramps.

• Oversee retries, partial failures, consistency, idempotency, back-pressure, and operational failure scenarios.

• Engage in client-facing consulting environments and collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in building and operating production backend, API, or distributed platform services.

• Excellent software engineering capabilities, with a focus on designing reliable, testable, and maintainable services.

• Familiarity with AI gateway, orchestration, entitlements, tenancy, metering, quotas, or related platform functionalities.

• Proficient in designing APIs and developer experiences for internal and external users.

• Experience with multi-tenant systems, ensuring tenant isolation, service boundaries, and platform-level enforcement patterns.

• Background in developing integration frameworks, connector patterns, governed data access, or reliable data on-ramps.

• Strong grasp of retries, partial failures, consistency, idempotency, back-pressure, and operational failure scenarios.

• Experience managing services throughout the entire lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly in client-facing consulting settings.

• Pragmatic approach with the ability to deliver meaningful value swiftly while upholding engineering standards.

• Experience with C#, Python, Go, or similar backend programming languages (preferred).

• Familiarity with API gateways, orchestration systems, connector frameworks, event-driven architectures, or platform engineering (preferred).

• Experience with AI, LLM, RAG, agentic workflows, tool/function calling, MCP, A2A, or practices related to the AI development lifecycle (preferred).

• Knowledge of event-sourced metering, quotas, entitlements, or billing-related platform services (preferred).

• Experience in developing enterprise-scale software utilized by multiple products, customers, or internal teams (preferred).

• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools while maintaining rigorous review, testing, and architectural discipline (preferred).
