AWS DevOps Engineer, Freelancer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Automate the creation of infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.

• Manage application configuration and enable Infrastructure as Code through deployment tools.

• Oversee and manage the build and release cycle for client projects.

• Share the responsibility for deploying releases and conducting operations and maintenance tasks.

• Enhance operational infrastructure, including Jenkins clusters, Bitbucket, Consul, Graphite, and Grafana.

• Provide operational support to the engineering team and assist in migrating legacy infrastructure to the cloud.

• Establish and enforce operational best practices, such as automated system health monitoring.

• Build scalable infrastructure for data platforms, including Amazon EMR, Redshift, and SageMaker.

• Develop the CI pipeline and mentor the team in DevOps practices.

• Collaborate with delivery teams in a forward-deployed model and take ownership of assigned customer outcomes.

• Work autonomously and coordinate with engagement teams on customer deployments for each project.

• Set customer expectations while providing automation and reliability engineering for production workloads.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience utilizing Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• A minimum of 4 years in configuration management and engineering for large-scale clients, ideally within an Agile development environment.

• Over 4 years of experience in Linux or Windows administration.

• At least 4 years of experience with version control systems (Git), including branching and merging strategies.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working with AWS infrastructure and platform services.

• At least 2 years of experience with cloud automation tools such as Ansible and Chef.

• Familiarity with container services on AWS: Kubernetes, ECS, and EKS.

• A proactive approach to enhancing system reliability.

• AWS Solutions Architect Professional or Associate certification is preferred.

• AWS DevOps Professional certification is preferred.

• Expertise in AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
