Automatic Speech Recognition Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Greece, +4 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of ASR tuning and the delivery of grammar/models for live enterprise IVR/voice deployments, managing everything from requirements to go-live and continuous optimization.

• Lead investigations into root causes and resolve production ASR issues, including recognition failures and critical showstopper challenges.

• Collaborate directly with both internal and external customer/partner stakeholders under tight deadlines.

• Design, train, and fine-tune acoustic and language models, utilizing modern neural techniques for new locales, domains, and custom vocabularies.

• Achieve measurable improvements in Word Error Rate (WER) and Sentence Error Rate (SER) against production baselines.

• Manage technical relationships for designated enterprise accounts.

• Facilitate customer working sessions and effectively communicate technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

• Serve as the representative for ASR delivery in cross-functional meetings with Product, Support, and Project Management teams.

• Contribute to and enhance delivery automation, including grammar-generation pipelines.

• Operate within production infrastructure and deployment environments across multiple global regions.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of practical ASR/speech engineering experience, particularly with significant involvement in production/live IVR or voice-channel deployments.

• Proven history of directly supporting customers, preferably in regulated sectors such as banking, insurance, or healthcare.

• Extensive hands-on experience with ASR platforms like Kaldi (or comparable alternatives).

• Expertise in language modeling, acoustic modeling, grammar/lexicon design, and decoder tuning.

• Strong programming skills (Python preferred; Bash, Java, or C++ are also acceptable).

• Proficiency in Linux environments.

• Educational background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computational Linguistics, Speech & Language Processing, or equivalent professional experience.

• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

• Strong ability to communicate with stakeholders.

• Capacity to independently manage ambiguous, production-critical issues, prioritize tasks across multiple accounts, and work effectively under tight deadlines.
