Authorization & Eligibility Clerk – Hospice

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Monitor and request all necessary authorizations for private insurance patients within the Hospice setting.

• Relay authorization dates and precise authorization details to staff members.

• Adhere to proper insurance protocols for submissions.

• Follow up on any authorizations that have not yet been received.

• Adjust processes to enhance authorization workflows and foster provider relationships under the guidance of the Billing Manager.

• Reduce the occurrence of denied authorizations.

• Schedule authorizations promptly upon receipt.

• Input staff schedules for private-pay clients on a weekly basis.

• Verify client insurance eligibility on a monthly basis.

• Report any unauthorized visits on a monthly basis.

• Maintain punctuality, attendance, and compliance with the work schedule and dress code.

• Execute other related tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in Hospice Commercial authorization is mandatory.

• Background in Home Health and Hospice is required.

• Familiarity with HCHB is preferred.

• Previous insurance experience is preferred, including the ability to run/read eligibility and request authorizations.

• Understanding of medical terminology and/or a general medical background is beneficial.

• Capability to work independently and make sound judgments.

• Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.

• Reliable and tactful; able to follow instructions effectively.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.

• Proficient computer skills are essential.

• Outstanding customer service skills are expected.

• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Word.

• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 9am to 6pm CST, with a one-hour lunch break.

• Availability for an on-call rotation during evenings and weekends.
