Associate Partner

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the recruitment and selection process for emerging, AI-focused school models.

• Develop and implement recruitment strategies for founders creating future-oriented models encompassing AI infrastructure, college and career pathways, talent and time redesign, and approaches for historically underserved students.

• Establish and enhance a national pipeline of innovative founders in both charter and district schools.

• Define criteria for funding applications and selection processes.

• Review applications, perform due diligence, and assist in the selection process alongside the IPS team.

• Prepare investment recommendations for leadership and the board.

• Act as the strategic relationship manager for up to 10 school teams during their initial design phase.

• Diagnose school models and develop support plans.

• Mentor founders on instructional coherence, AI integration, staffing, authorization, and readiness for launch.

• Design and facilitate adult learning experiences, including cohort meetings, design sprints, school visits, and peer consultancy.

• Collaborate with associate partners throughout the Y00-Y3 trajectory.

• Lead the identification, selection, and support of AI-native and AI-supported fresh start schools.

• Manage and assess partnerships with AI implementation vendors.

• Contribute to NewSchools’ AI learning strategy in collaboration with the Research and Learning team.

• Dedicate significant time to schools, incubators, and gatherings to grasp innovation and founder requirements.

• Transform field and portfolio insights into selection criteria, support strategies, and investment priorities.

• Disseminate organizational learning externally to enhance NewSchools’ influence and credibility.

• Lead or participate in new innovation initiatives and special projects as priorities within IPS evolve.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional experience in the education sector, including roles in school leadership, school design, management consulting, or philanthropy.

• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a school principal or in coaching school principals.

• Hands-on experience with AI in educational settings, such as integrating AI into instructional or operational frameworks, facilitating AI adoption, or assessing AI tools and models.

• Experience in founding, designing, or redesigning innovative school frameworks, or guiding early-stage founders through design and launch phases.

• Proven capability to design and deliver effective adult learning experiences for leaders and teams.

• Willingness to travel up to 25% for in-person team meetings, retreats, and school visits.

• Experience in making or contributing to investment, funding, or critical organizational decisions is preferred.

• Establishing extensive networks within K-12 education, particularly among school founders and innovators.

• Designing and maintaining systems and processes that capture, organize, and disseminate learning.

• Managing multiple workstreams from start to finish with a focus on detail and strong organizational skills.

• Collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve ambitious objectives.

• Leading reflection and improvement cycles for workstreams, utilizing data and documented insights to inform decisions and enhance team effectiveness.

• Producing high-quality written and verbal communication for various internal and external audiences.

• Must possess authorization to work for any employer in the U.S.
