This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maine.
• Develop and implement project infrastructure and systems that align with the strategic objectives of the company and its projects.
• Oversee all phases of project finance operations, encompassing initiation, closure, cost management, account reconciliation, reporting, analysis, and adherence to donor requirements.
• Direct project financial reporting and analysis, manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, and facilitate month-end and year-end closing processes for country offices.
• Supervise accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP, regulatory standards, donor requirements, and company policies.
• Monitor and maintain project budgets, and prepare/process project invoices.
• Analyze project variances and generate monthly variance reports for management review.
• Communicate the status of remaining project funding and report any cost overruns or underspending to the Senior Manager and program leads.
• Ensure the accurate and timely processing of wire transfers to country offices and projects.
• Prepare the annual FFATA submission and gather necessary information from sub-awardees.
• Contribute to the development of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Generate and present financial reports and analyses on a monthly, quarterly, annual, donor-specific, and ad hoc basis.
• Assist in long-term financial forecasting and track program performance against revenue and expenditure targets.
• Create grant and donor invoices while monitoring receivable and liability positions.
• Facilitate audit processes and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Provide training to staff on finance and accounting practices.
• Uphold confidentiality and foster a positive and supportive workplace culture.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
• 6–10 years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, ideally within a nonprofit setting.
• Deep understanding of nonprofit accounting principles and GAAP.
• In-depth knowledge of US Government regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), particularly Subpart 31.7, and 2 CFR 200.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proficient in financial software and reporting tools.
• Experience managing cradle-to-grave project/donor finances, especially those related to US Government funding.
• Familiarity with budgeting, project cost management, account reconciliation, financial reporting, data analysis, and donor reporting obligations.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse work styles and under pressure while adhering to deadlines.
• Skill in translating complex financial information for both finance and non-finance professionals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
• Preferred: experience in nonprofit, federal, and/or state settings, particularly in a rapidly growing, resource-limited environment.
• Preferred: familiarity with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT and QuickBooks.
• Proficiency in French, Portuguese, and/or Spanish is desirable.
