Associate Editor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee all facets of peer review for a collection of manuscripts, which includes assessing the necessity of review, choosing referees, evaluating their feedback, and making publication decisions.

• Maintain regular communication with PRL editors as well as editors from other journals within the Physical Review portfolio.

• Assist in selecting and providing concise summaries of papers for highlighting purposes.

• Stay informed on current and emerging research in physics and relay information to editors throughout the portfolio.

• Support the manuscript post-acceptance phase, which involves obtaining editorial summaries and images and addressing production challenges.

• Conduct editorial checks to guarantee the quality and promptness of published works.

• Uphold high ethical standards and fairness in all editorial processes, ensuring decisions are consistent with editorial policies and practices.

• Attain proficiency in the peer-review management system.

• Represent the journals and APS at scientific conferences.

• Build and nurture relationships with researchers, fostering trust.

• Contribute to journal-level initiatives and strategies, which include content commissioning, social media engagement, outreach events, and data analysis.

• Play a role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the journals.

⛳️ Requirements

• A PhD and postdoctoral experience in Quantum Information Science and Technology.

• At least one year of postdoctoral experience.

• Comprehensive understanding of the science and literature pertinent to the field.

• Familiarity with established research groups in the domain.

• A strong sense of integrity.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

• Capability to make swift independent assessments and decisions.

• Proficiency in managing multiple priorities effectively.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Familiarity with the peer-review process from the perspectives of both author and referee.

• Previous editorial experience is not necessary.
