This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Lead initiatives related to Share Our Strength's legislative and regulatory objectives at the state level.

• Collaborate with the State Campaign Team and state-based partners to create and implement strategies and plans aimed at achieving state policy goals.

• Establish connections and provide education on relevant issues.

• Register as a lobbyist for Share Our Strength if necessary.

• Monitor legislation and trends affecting nutrition and anti-poverty programs.

• Deliver timely legislative analysis and responses.

• Collaborate in drafting legislative and regulatory policies.

• Manage relationships with state officials, their staff, and external partners.

• Support organizational objectives by providing feedback, assessing needs and progress, identifying barriers and opportunities, developing strategies, and mobilizing resources.

• Partner with Advocacy and Government Relations colleagues at local, state, and federal levels.

• Offer strategic advice during campaign development, execution, policy implementation, annual planning, and other strategic issues.

• Oversee and utilize partnerships with external associations of state elected officials.

• Promote diversity and inclusion within the organization and its initiatives.

• Supervise Senior Managers of State Government Relations, as well as potentially interns and external consultants.

• Travel up to 20% of the time.


⛳️ Requirements

• 6–9 years of relevant experience concentrating on state-level issue advocacy, lobbying, or public policy.

• A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills.

• Strong judgment and emotional intelligence.

• Proven success in developing and managing collaborative partnerships for policy change with clear outcomes.

• Ability to work independently on complex, detail-oriented projects in a dynamic environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience in presenting to high-level audiences.

• Passion for anti-hunger, food justice, and anti-poverty initiatives.

• Proficiency in MS Office.

• Detail-oriented with robust organizational capabilities.

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.
