Associate Director, Quality Engineering – Sales & Marketing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee quality engineering execution for designated applications, products, or agile teams.

• Guide, mentor, and cultivate quality engineering leaders, engineers, and SDETs.

• Establish quality engineering standards, practices, and governance frameworks.

• Propel functional, integration, end-to-end, regression, and release validation initiatives.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Platform, DevOps, and enterprise quality teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Supervise defect triage, trend analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective-action tracking.

• Assist in release-readiness assessments and validation of production deployments.

• Promote test automation adoption and ensure sustainable regression coverage.

• Embed automated validations and quality checks into CI/CD pipelines.

• Organize performance, resiliency, operational-readiness, and security validation tasks.

• Track quality metrics, delivery trends, and production outcomes.

• Raise systemic quality issues, portfolio risks, and capacity constraints to Director leadership.

• Contribute to the modernization of quality engineering through enterprise tools, reusable frameworks, and improved methodologies.

• Encourage the implementation of AI-enabled quality engineering capabilities.

• Ensure responsible AI adoption while adhering to security, privacy, regulatory, and operational standards.

• Occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an equivalent bachelor's degree coupled with relevant industry experience.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, testing, or related technical fields.

• 3+ years of leadership experience managing quality engineering, test automation, or software delivery teams in enterprise settings.

• Experience leading quality engineering initiatives across multiple agile teams or intricate applications.

• Practical experience with enterprise quality tools, test automation, test management platforms, and engineering lifecycle tools.

• Proven track record of enhancing quality engineering practices, including automation, process improvement, and metrics-driven execution.

• Strong grasp of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.

• Experience with API, UI, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with distributed systems and contemporary application architectures.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively across product, engineering, and operational teams.

• Experience in matrixed organizations and coordinating efforts across distributed teams.

• Preferred: experience in healthcare or another highly regulated sector.

• Preferred: knowledge of member, provider, digital experience, or enterprise platform domains.

• Preferred: understanding of microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and cloud-native architectures.

• Preferred: background in supporting non-functional testing, including performance and resiliency.

• Preferred: exposure to AI-enabled quality engineering or intelligent automation capabilities.

• Preferred: knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, patterns, and standards across cloud, hybrid, on-premise, and SaaS environments.

• Preferred: experience in implementing AI-enabled quality engineering or intelligent automation capabilities.

• Personal internet service with a minimum of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload speeds.

• Capability to work from a dedicated space free from interruptions to safeguard member PHI / HIPAA information.
