Associate Director – Medical Science Liaison, Hematology/Oncology

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +2 more states.

📋 Description

• Continuously enhance technical knowledge and expertise in the designated therapeutic area.

• Participate in scientific discussions and address the varied medical information requirements of customers.

• Build trust as a credible source of unbiased, accurate, and current medical and scientific data.

• Act as the primary liaison between Lilly Medical and scientific/clinical experts during customer engagements.

• Improve customer interaction through emotional intelligence, strategic thought, and a deep understanding of customer needs.

• Link scientific and clinical experts with Lilly resources and internal business collaborators.

• Promote collaborative research initiatives and external opportunities.

• Create, execute, and assess strategic plans for the assigned territory.

• Focus on essential MSL activities and take responsibility for outcomes.

• Ensure compliant coordination with Lilly field teams sharing customer accounts.

• Employ territory analytics for identifying customers and prioritizing routing.

• Consolidate and relay actionable customer and clinical insights to internal medical and cross-functional teams.

• Make informed decisions and escalate issues as necessary.

• Foster internal networks and collaborate with field-based colleagues across various functions.

• Adapt to changing business requirements and utilize innovative resources.

• Contribute to team objectives and function as a cooperative team member.

• Fulfill the role in compliance with all governing requirements, procedures, and laws.

⛳️ Requirements

• An advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field) is required.

• 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience is preferred.

• A master's or bachelor's-level degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) may be considered if accompanied by 5 or more years of clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant therapeutic area.

• A valid US driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

• Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.

• Availability to work 4 to 6 weekends annually.

• Should reside near a transport hub (airport/train station).

• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity regarding the relevant field of science/medicine.

• Ability to learn quickly and effectively communicate complex scientific information clearly and concisely.

• Self-motivated and capable of working independently in the field while managing multiple priorities and projects.

• Proficient in presentation and computer skills, with expertise in literature identification.

• Strategic and critical thinking skills to analyze and evaluate information and predict future implications or relevance.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• Competence in utilizing field-based electronic or other communication tools.

• Resilient in handling complex challenges.

• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence and the ability to build and network professional relationships.

• Experience in fulfilling customer needs for intricate information.

• Significant experience in professional networking that yields mutually beneficial results.

• Experience in a field-based work environment is highly regarded.

• Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education processes is highly valued.

• Experience in the hematology therapeutic area is strongly preferred.
