Associate Director – Medical Science Liaison, Hematology/Oncology

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Continuously enhance technical knowledge and expertise in the designated therapeutic area.

β€’ Participate in scientific discussions and address the varied medical information requirements of customers.

β€’ Build trust as a credible source of unbiased, accurate, and current medical and scientific data.

β€’ Act as the primary liaison between Lilly Medical and scientific/clinical experts during customer engagements.

β€’ Improve customer interaction through emotional intelligence, strategic thought, and a deep understanding of customer needs.

β€’ Link scientific and clinical experts with Lilly resources and internal business collaborators.

β€’ Promote collaborative research initiatives and external opportunities.

β€’ Create, execute, and assess strategic plans for the assigned territory.

β€’ Focus on essential MSL activities and take responsibility for outcomes.

β€’ Ensure compliant coordination with Lilly field teams sharing customer accounts.

β€’ Employ territory analytics for identifying customers and prioritizing routing.

β€’ Consolidate and relay actionable customer and clinical insights to internal medical and cross-functional teams.

β€’ Make informed decisions and escalate issues as necessary.

β€’ Foster internal networks and collaborate with field-based colleagues across various functions.

β€’ Adapt to changing business requirements and utilize innovative resources.

β€’ Contribute to team objectives and function as a cooperative team member.

β€’ Fulfill the role in compliance with all governing requirements, procedures, and laws.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ An advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field) is required.

β€’ 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience is preferred.

β€’ A master's or bachelor's-level degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) may be considered if accompanied by 5 or more years of clinical, research, or industry experience in the relevant therapeutic area.

β€’ A valid US driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

β€’ Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

β€’ Willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.

β€’ Availability to work 4 to 6 weekends annually.

β€’ Should reside near a transport hub (airport/train station).

β€’ Demonstrated intellectual curiosity regarding the relevant field of science/medicine.

β€’ Ability to learn quickly and effectively communicate complex scientific information clearly and concisely.

β€’ Self-motivated and capable of working independently in the field while managing multiple priorities and projects.

β€’ Proficient in presentation and computer skills, with expertise in literature identification.

β€’ Strategic and critical thinking skills to analyze and evaluate information and predict future implications or relevance.

β€’ Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

β€’ Competence in utilizing field-based electronic or other communication tools.

β€’ Resilient in handling complex challenges.

β€’ Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, including emotional intelligence and the ability to build and network professional relationships.

β€’ Experience in fulfilling customer needs for intricate information.

β€’ Significant experience in professional networking that yields mutually beneficial results.

β€’ Experience in a field-based work environment is highly regarded.

β€’ Familiarity with health systems, academic communities, medical research, and medical education processes is highly valued.

β€’ Experience in the hematology therapeutic area is strongly preferred.
