Associate Director, Medical Affairs – APAC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hong Kong, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Act as the scientific authority for medical affairs throughout the APAC region

• Develop and execute medical strategies and tactical initiatives

• Assist in the creation of clinical and real-world evidence

• Contribute to lifecycle management efforts as required

• Supervise compassionate use programs and grants as necessary

• Utilize a comprehensive understanding of compliance within APAC markets

• Build and maintain relationships with KOLs and key centers in international markets

• Track competitive dynamics, emerging therapies, and clinical trends

• Direct medical education initiatives aimed at the APAC region in partnership with therapeutic area medical leaders

• Collaborate with IM medical, commercial, business operations, and other departments

• Manage essential external vendors and agencies to ensure effective results

• Provide guidance and functional leadership to medical teams and stakeholders

• Report directly to the Head of International Medical Affairs

• Work closely with medical directors, the APAC commercial manager, and internal Ascendis teams

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced degree (MD / PhD / PharmD) in life sciences

• Over 7 years of experience in medical affairs

• Significant expertise in rare diseases

• Proficiency in English and Mandarin is required

• Proven leadership and stakeholder management capabilities

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Demonstrated strategic and critical thinking skills

• Exceptional oral and written communication abilities

• Strong organizational skills

• Capability to lead by influence, both directly and indirectly

• Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills
