Associate Director, Media Planning

📋 Description

• Act as a vital strategic and operational leader within a planning pod, connecting high-level strategy with execution.

• Drive integrated media recommendations and convert strategic direction into actionable, audience-centric plans.

• Ensure media placements align with creative messaging.

• Assess campaign performance and offer strategic insights for optimizations and marketplace trends.

• Create geographic, target-audience, and competitive analyses to inform media plans and client expenditures.

• Manage daily client relationships, including weekly status updates, recommendations, and campaign evaluations.

• Collaborate effectively with Client Experience, Strategy, Creative, Activation, Analytics, CRM, and Finance teams.

• Present media perspectives to clients and internal stakeholders.

• Cultivate relationships with media vendor partners.

• Supervise, mentor, and coach Supervisors, Senior Planners, and Planners.

• Review pod workflows, resources, bandwidth, and operational challenges; escalate requirements to the Director.

• Oversee client budgets, flowcharts, media authorizations, and expenditure allocations.

• Partner with Activation and Finance teams to ensure accuracy in invoices and billing.

• Identify opportunities for organic growth across Media, Data & Analytics, and CRM.

• Report directly to the VP/Director of Planning.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

• 5–8 years of media planning experience in an agency environment.

• Proven capability in developing integrated plans across both traditional and digital channels.

• Demonstrated experience in directly managing or mentoring junior planning team members.

• High proficiency in industry planning and research tools, including MRI-Simmons, Resonate, YouGov, Vivvix, Pathmatics, SQAD, Guideline/MediaTools, and Nielsen.

• Strong skills in media mathematics, financial discipline, and analytical problem-solving.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proven track record of delivering effective client presentations.
