Associate Director, Individual Giving

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Identify, nurture, solicit, and manage a portfolio of significant individual donors who support BBBSA's mission and strategic objectives.

• Report directly to the VP of Strategic Philanthropy.

• Oversee a portfolio of around 100-150 major donors and prospects, with typical gift capacities ranging from $25,000 to over $100,000.

• Create and implement tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies utilizing a moves management framework.

• Maintain a proactive pipeline of qualified prospects and monitor the stages of relationships, next actions, and timelines.

• Record donor interactions, movements, and strategies in Salesforce.

• Discover new major gift prospects through wealth screening, referrals, and relationship mapping.

• Assess prospects through exploratory visits and calls.

• Collaborate with local BBBS agency leaders to identify and develop relationships with donors linked to both the national office and local chapters.

• Design and provide personalized cultivation experiences, including donor visits, briefings, campus and program tours, and opportunities for executive engagement.

• Prepare donor-focused gift proposals, briefing materials, and stewardship reports in conjunction with Marketing & Communications and Program teams.

• Directly solicit major contributions alongside executive leadership, board members, or volunteers as necessary.

• Ensure prompt acknowledgment of gifts and create stewardship touchpoints that promote renewed and increased giving.

• Align major gift strategies with fundraising objectives, campaign priorities, and strategic plans.

• Collaborate with Marketing & Communications, Program and Agency leaders, executives, and board members on donor engagement efforts.

• Track and report on revenue objectives, pipeline metrics, and activity benchmarks.

• Maintain donor files and documentation using CRM, SharePoint, and other enterprise platforms.

• Recommend enhancements to major gift processes, tools, and donor journey design.

• Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.

• Exhibit BBBSA's shared leadership competencies and organizational values.

• Represent BBBSA's mission and impact with authenticity and donor-focused communication.

• Ensure consistent follow-up with donors.

• Foster an inclusive atmosphere where colleagues, donors, and program partners feel valued, included, and heard.

• Perform related duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and progressively responsible fundraising experience will be accepted.

• 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in major gifts or frontline fundraising.

• Proven track record of identifying, nurturing, and successfully closing gifts in the five- and six-figure range.

• Required experience in managing a donor portfolio and the moves management process.

• Experience with Salesforce is preferred.

• Background in a nonprofit or federated organization is preferred.

• Understanding of donor engagement and moves management is essential.

• Ability to devise and implement fundraising strategies.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Familiarity with Salesforce and the sales activation continuum.

• Experience in project management, process and systems development, and implementation of strategic initiatives.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.

• Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.

• Ability to create and manage project budgets.

• Capability to perform all essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
