This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +6 more states.
• Spearhead Humana's enterprise performance engineering strategy, roadmap, and operational framework.
• Develop performance engineering standards, methodologies, frameworks, governance practices, and best practices.
• Direct a centralized team that supports various business segments and technology portfolios.
• Act as a trusted advisor regarding application scalability, reliability, and system performance.
• Set standards for load, stress, endurance, capacity, failover, and resilience testing.
• Oversee performance engineering services for customer-facing, internal, digital, cloud-native, AI-enabled, and mission-critical applications.
• Formulate performance test strategies, workload models, and testing methodologies for enterprise-scale applications.
• Manage performance validation, including load, stress, volume, spike, endurance, scalability, capacity, reliability, and disaster recovery testing.
• Incorporate performance testing into Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD delivery pipelines.
• Lead performance analysis, tuning, and root cause analysis across applications, databases, infrastructure, APIs, and cloud services.
• Suggest optimizations for application architecture, databases, APIs, cloud resources, distributed systems, caching, messaging, and networks.
• Establish performance engineering reviews and architecture evaluations.
• Develop performance engineering practices for Generative AI platforms, LLM applications, and autonomous agents.
• Validate AI response times, agent execution, prompt latency, throughput, orchestration, resource utilization, and cost-performance.
• Direct performance testing tools, frameworks, automation, scripts, templates, and accelerators.
• Manage performance engineering across AWS and Azure environments, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and containerized platforms.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, Quality Engineering, Data Engineering, AI Engineering, Product, Security, and platform teams.
• Mentor and develop performance engineers, architects, and technical specialists.
• Set priorities and objectives, assist with workforce and succession planning, provide mentorship to engineers, and promote technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Over 10 years of experience in software engineering, performance engineering, quality engineering, or related areas.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience managing engineering or performance engineering teams.
• Proven track record in leading performance testing initiatives for large-scale enterprise applications.
• Practical experience with LoadRunner Enterprise, BlazeMeter, Apache JMeter, or Performance Center.
• Strong knowledge in performance analysis, capacity planning, workload modeling, and application tuning.
• Experience in optimizing web applications, APIs, microservices, distributed systems, cloud-native platforms, and databases.
• Comprehensive understanding of Java, REST APIs, cloud-native applications, and enterprise architecture patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Datadog, Splunk, Dynatrace, or New Relic.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, collaborate across organizations, and engage in hands-on technical problem solving.
• Minimum home internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
• Capability to work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to safeguard member PHI / HIPAA information.
• Preferred: experience in healthcare, insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated sectors.
• Preferred: experience testing Generative AI applications, AI platforms, intelligent agents, and LLM-based solutions.
• Preferred: familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud architectures.
• Preferred: knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Terraform, and Site Reliability Engineering practices.
• Preferred: understanding of chaos engineering, resilience testing, and fault injection techniques.
• Preferred: experience in establishing enterprise-wide performance engineering practices or centers of excellence.
• Preferred: experience supporting digital transformation and cloud modernization efforts.
• Preferred: relevant certifications in cloud, performance engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
