This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Spearhead Amgen’s corporate social media strategy, channel roadmap, and operational framework.
• Provide counsel on audience behavior, platform trends, digital culture, AI, and reputational risks.
• Convert audience insights into effective content, channel, and engagement strategies.
• Propel social-first storytelling, content strategy, and both paid and organic distribution efforts.
• Seamlessly integrate social media within enterprise communications, executive thought leadership, and significant corporate initiatives.
• Direct the employee social ambassador program and enhance engagement across various channels.
• Develop social media policies, governance, and compliance standards.
• Oversee channel operations, community management, moderation, and risk escalation processes.
• Assist in issues management and crisis communications through social insights and rapid response capabilities.
• Lead social listening, competitive intelligence, and audience insights initiatives.
• Assess performance and refine strategies using data-driven recommendations.
• Promote the responsible adoption of AI and emerging technologies within social media and communications.
• Cultivate social media capabilities through training, coaching, and the implementation of best practices.
• Manage agency, platform, and technology partners, including oversight of budgets and performance metrics.
• Lead intricate cross-functional initiatives involving Corporate Affairs and global stakeholders.
• Report directly to the Senior Director, Social & Digital Media within the External Engagement team.
• Collaborate across Corporate Affairs and with Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Privacy, Security, agency, and technology partners.
• Doctorate degree with 3 years of experience in social media, digital communications, marketing, corporate communications, or a related field, OR a Master’s degree with 5 years of experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of experience, OR an Associate’s degree with 12 years of experience, OR a high school diploma/GED with 14 years of experience.
• 3 years of managerial experience directly overseeing personnel and/or leadership experience in leading teams, projects, programs, or directing resource allocation.
• Extensive experience in corporate social media, digital communications, or integrated communications, including managing complex social media programs and initiatives in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or similarly regulated, reputation-sensitive sectors.
• Proven track record in developing and executing enterprise or global social media strategies, governance, and channel operations for a large, matrixed organization.
• Proficient in organic and paid social media, major social platforms, audience targeting and segmentation, distribution and amplification strategies, community management, brand safety, accessibility, and adapting to evolving platform requirements.
• Experience collaborating with Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, Privacy, and Security teams to formulate social media policies, review workflows, risk controls, and escalation protocols.
• Skilled in utilizing social listening, audience intelligence, competitive intelligence, and cultural insights.
• Experience in creating measurement frameworks and converting performance data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Background in leading or supporting employee advocacy and executive social media or thought leadership initiatives.
• Understanding of the creator and influencer ecosystem.
• Knowledge of issues and crisis communications, including real-time monitoring, escalation, and coordination.
• Familiarity with SEO, generative engine optimization (GEO), and digital discovery behaviors.
• Capability to responsibly leverage artificial intelligence and emerging technologies while maintaining a focus on governance, accuracy, and risk management.
• Ability to build organizational capability and lead through influence.
• Experience in managing agencies, technology partners, budgets, and multiple complex workstreams.
• Exceptional skills in writing, editing, presenting, and providing strategic counsel.
• Highly self-directed, inquisitive, and proactive, with sound judgment.
