Associate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Represent clients in lawsuits initiated in Texas courts.

• Manage various first-party insurance defense cases.

• Conduct legal research and draft legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.

• Provide assessments on liability, damages, and value as required by the Claims Department.

• Prepare and manage pleadings, motions, and discovery processes.

• Conduct depositions, examinations before trial, and examinations under oath.

• Defend assigned cases through trial or dispositive hearings, when applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2-6+ years of experience in litigation related to insurance, defense, and/or personal injury.

• A Juris Doctor degree is REQUIRED.

• Admission to the Texas Bar is REQUIRED.

• Must hold a valid license in good standing to practice law in Texas.

• Must fulfill and maintain licensing requirements, including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) obligations where applicable.

• Must be willing to travel as necessary, including for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

• Must document files in a clear, concise, and professional manner.

• Must be capable of following complex instructions and resolving conflicts or facilitating conflict resolution.

• Strong organizational, priority-setting, and multitasking abilities are essential.

• Must be able to absorb and apply substantial amounts of technical and procedural information.

• Civil litigation experience is preferred.

• Experience in insurance defense-related litigation is also preferred.

• Must communicate professionally in person, via telephone, and through written correspondence/email.
