Associate Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Represent clients in lawsuits filed in New York courts.

• Manage various first-party insurance defense cases.

• Conduct legal research and draft briefs, opinions, and memoranda.

• Provide assessments on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.

• Draft and manage pleadings, motions, and discovery processes.

• Oversee depositions and examinations before trial, as well as examinations under oath.

• Defend assigned cases through trial or dispositive hearings, as necessary.

• Serve in venues located within Queens, New York.

⛳️ Requirements

• 2 to 6+ years of experience in a related field, specifically in litigation concerning insurance defense and/or personal injury.

• Juris Doctor degree is REQUIRED.

• Admission to the New York Bar is REQUIRED.

• Must hold a valid license to practice law in New York and be in good standing.

• Must comply with all licensing requirements, including any mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) obligations, where applicable.

• Willingness to travel as needed for trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

• Ability to document files in a clear, concise, and professional written format.

• Capability to follow intricate instructions, resolve conflicts, or facilitate conflict resolution.

• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively.

• Must be capable of learning and applying extensive technical and procedural information.

• Experience in civil litigation is preferred.

• Experience in insurance defense-related litigation is preferred.

• Must communicate professionally in person, via telephone, and in written correspondence/email.
