This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +2 more states.
• Oversee a varied defense caseload that includes general liability, product liability, asbestos defense, tobacco defense, and other intricate civil litigation matters.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery documents, dispositive motions, and other essential legal paperwork.
• Conduct and defend depositions involving fact and expert witnesses.
• Manage discovery processes and formulate case strategies.
• Participate in court conferences, hearings, mediations, and settlement discussions.
• Engage in direct communication with clients, insurers, and opposing counsel.
• Assist in trial preparation and take part in trials when necessary.
• Independently manage cases while collaborating with seasoned trial attorneys and the wider Segal McCambridge team.
• Acquire practical courtroom experience and benefit from mentorship by experienced trial attorneys.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in defense litigation.
• Preferred experience in general liability, toxic tort, asbestos, tobacco, product liability, or similar civil defense litigation.
• Admission to practice law in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island is mandatory.
• Candidates with admission in two or more of these jurisdictions are highly preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills are essential.
• Capability to manage motion practice, depositions, discovery, and client interactions.
