Assistant Vice President – Technology, Data Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Lead and support essential data governance initiatives by identifying and managing critical data elements and domains.

• Develop and sustain a thorough Business Glossary and Data Catalog to ensure accurate and current metadata.

• Evaluate and implement technical metadata harvesting, in alignment with data management standards and policies.

• Collaborate with technology leaders, business analysts, data owners, and stewards to improve the data catalog and maintain policy and standards libraries.

• Integrate a data governance culture into business-enabled processes, ensuring accountability and compliance regarding data.

• Facilitate interactions with technology stakeholders and business data owners to define asset ownership, usage policies, and compliant metadata.

• Create and enhance standards and processes for the data governance program related to metadata and reference data management.

• Advocate for data accountability and ensure adherence to regulatory and geographic compliance, tracking the effectiveness of governance through reports.

• Organize periodic data governance meetings at various levels and contribute to PowerPoint presentations focused on data management maturity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in data-related projects or programs, emphasizing metadata management and data governance implementation.

• Practical expertise in applying data management standards within a banking context, such as DAMA.

• Comprehensive understanding of data governance policies, standards, metrics, controls, and processes.

• Awareness of legal, compliance, and regulatory issues affecting data, including restrictions on geographic data storage.

• Experience in identifying data assets, defining data ownership, and establishing usage and access control policies.

• Proficiency in data domain discovery, classification, taxonomy, and hierarchies to support data catalog architecture.

• Capability to create or enhance business glossaries through collaboration with business analysts and stakeholders.

• Practical experience with Informatica Data Governance tools, including EDC, Axon, and DEQ, for tool implementation projects.

• Proven success in leading data governance committees and effectively conveying the value of data governance to stakeholders.
