Artificial Intelligence Engineer – Federal Cybersecurity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and manage AI and machine learning capabilities that enhance cyber tool integration and automate security operations.

• Take ownership of the six-pillar AI validation framework, which involves classifying, testing, and verifying AI technologies prior to their implementation.

• Collaborate with the DevSecOps Engineer to deliver the Autonomous Workflow Library.

• Generate the quarterly Security Control Effectiveness Report.

• Maintain the documentation package for AI System / LLM Development and Operations.

• Issue AI Model / LLM Change Disclosures a minimum of 30 days prior to any model alterations.

• Fulfill AI attestation and disclosure requirements.

• Document model behaviors and modifications for a Government audience.

• Work alongside the Cloud Security Architect and DevSecOps Engineer to integrate AI into the enterprise security toolset while ensuring the attack surface remains unchanged.


⛳️ Requirements

• Current DoD 8140/8570 Level III certification is mandatory at the time of application: IAT III, IAM III, or IASAE III, or another credential listed on the current matrix at the required level.

• At least 10 years of experience in information technology, including practical experience in machine learning or LLM engineering within a security or operations framework.

• A Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Data Science, or a related discipline.

• Degrees obtained outside of the United States must undergo a NACES-member equivalency evaluation.

• A well-documented and defensible methodology for categorizing, testing, and validating AI technologies prior to deployment.

• Familiarity with Federal AI governance requirements, including attestation and disclosure obligations.

• Capability to produce model behavior and change documentation appropriate for Government evaluation.

• Proficiency in Python and contemporary ML/LLM tools.

• Engineering acumen to transition a model from prototype to a sustainable production capability.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Ability to acquire and maintain Tier 4 / High Risk Public Trust suitability, access to VA systems, and PIV credentialing.

• Work cannot commence until an interim determination is received.
