Art Director – 12-month contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Design innovative, diverse, and visually appealing graphics for the Japan community.

• Create distinctive template concepts that align with various themes and topics relevant to Japan.

• Collaborate with asset developers on illustrations, photographs, and other design components.

• Propose new design techniques and creative strategies tailored for local users.

• Ensure quality control for Creator templates in conjunction with the Creator Template Review Team.

• Leverage AI tools to produce templates efficiently for the Japan market while maintaining craftsmanship and cultural significance.

• Compose clear briefs for Creators that provide direction, context, and inspiration.

• Partner with the Design Lead to oversee freelance designers, ensuring projects remain on schedule, on-brief, and meet deadlines.

• Manage the comprehensive rollout of the Japan content library.

• Work collaboratively with copywriters, illustrators, market growth, and localization experts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience as a Graphic, Brand, or Visual Designer in both digital and print marketing.

• A true passion for design trends and styles unique to Japan.

• A portfolio that reflects a dedication to clean, elegant, and aesthetically pleasing design.

• Strong skills in hand illustration, typography, color theory, conceptual graphic design, and layout.

• A keen awareness of visual, cultural, and pop culture trends.

• A solid stylistic perspective rooted in design principles.

• Ability to design with the end user in mind, delivering projects on time and following the brief.

• Experience in providing clear, constructive, and supportive design feedback.

• Proficiency in utilizing AI tools within the design process and a desire to explore their further application.

• Capability to craft concise creative briefs.

• Experience in coordinating, mentoring, or supporting a small group of designers, or a willingness to take on such responsibilities.

• Familiarity with Canva is advantageous.
