Area Safety Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and support initiatives related to safety and regulatory compliance across field operations.

• Act as a safety partner and mentor for service technicians, drivers, and Area Managers.

• Travel throughout the Eastern Region to cultivate relationships with AreaBev Managers and Service Technician Managers.

• Identify safety deficiencies in real-time and coach up to 100 drivers and service technicians on best safety practices.

• Make quarterly trips to Charlotte, NC for onboarding, driver safety training, and engagement with HQ leadership.

• Create engaging training materials tailored for field teams.

• Interpret and enforce regulations set by DOT, OSHA, EPA, FDA, and Hazmat.

• Perform field audits regarding documentation, safety equipment, and operational compliance.

• Recognize gaps in safety protocols and work with the Director of Safety to improve procedures.

• Keep training records and regulatory filings audit-ready.

• Respond to incidents in the field and conduct root-cause investigations utilizing tools like TapRoot.

• Manage injury cases from recovery to safe return-to-work.

• Oversee driver behavior software and camera data to actively reduce accident risks.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2+ years of experience in safety, risk management, or compliance.

• Direct experience with Hazardous Materials (Hazmat) distribution.

• A valid driver’s license is required.

• Willingness and capability to travel 50%-70% of the time.

• Must reside within the Eastern Time Zone.

• Strong proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Keep).

• Ability to interpret intricate regulations, compose clear reports, resolve field disputes, and communicate effectively under pressure.

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent military experience (preferred).

• Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or other recognized safety certifications (preferred).

• Active Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or experience in commercial driving (preferred).

• Certification or experience with Smith System or similar safe-driving programs and TapRoot root-cause analysis (preferred).

• Familiarity with software like Intelex, Samsara/Lytx, Geotab, TenStreet, or SAP Concur (preferred).

• Availability by phone 24/7 is mandatory.
