Archaeology Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork under the guidance of a Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

• Carry out various tasks in support of project staff.

• Collect and maintain scientific data, including environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and inspections at client sites.

• Assist with calculations as needed.

• Set up and operate necessary equipment.

• Inspect equipment and installations to ensure compliance with specifications.

• Keep accurate project documentation.

• Gather and input data effectively.

• Apply technical principles and theories under supervision.

• Engage in field projects mainly in Oregon and Washington, with potential for additional opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma plus 2 years of relevant experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in archaeological fieldwork.

• Valid US Driver's License required.

• Pre-employment verification of driving record.

• Must be a US Citizen.

• Ability to travel overnight for field work sessions is essential.

• A Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field is preferred.

• 3+ years of experience in archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring is preferred.

• Completion of an archaeological field school is highly desired.

• Experience with GPS and GIS technology is preferred.

• Proficiency in computers, including familiarity with Microsoft Office, is preferred.
