Archaeology Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Mexico.

📋 Description

• Conduct archaeological fieldwork under the guidance of a Crew Chief, Field Director, and/or Principal Investigator.

• Assist project personnel with a range of field and technical responsibilities.

• Collect and maintain designated records of scientific data.

• Help with environmental sampling, operations and maintenance, and site inspections for clients.

• Support calculations and the setup and operation of equipment.

• Evaluate equipment and installations to ensure compliance with specifications.

• Keep accurate project documentation.

• Gather and input data.

• Utilize technical principles and theories under supervision.

• Engage in remote, part-time, on-call work as required.

• Travel overnight for fieldwork projects primarily in Ohio and Illinois.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma.

• 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education in archaeological fieldwork.

• Valid US Driver's License.

• Verification of driving record prior to employment.

• US Citizenship is mandatory.

• Willingness to travel overnight for fieldwork sessions.

• Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a related field is preferred.

• 3+ years of experience in archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring is preferred.

• Completion of an archaeological field school is highly desirable.

• Familiarity with GPS and GIS technologies is preferred.

• Computer literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office, is preferred.
