AR Medical Insurance Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee accounts that are overdue and carry out collection tasks.

• Analyze reports, investigate concerns, and address issues.

• Ensure payment postings are accurate and that account balances are up to date.

• Collaborate with colleagues to rectify billing errors and insurance payments.

• Track and revise the status of delinquent accounts.

• Suggest accounts for collection or write-off as necessary.

• Reach out to patients to collect overdue balances, confirm demographic and insurance details, update system records, and document discussions.

• Respond to patient inquiries regarding payments, billing, and insurance, while resolving any complaints.

• Direct patients to Patient Benefits Representatives for payment plans when suitable.

• Manage patient and payor credit balances, ensuring prompt refunds in accordance with governmental guidelines and regulations.

• Comply with The US Oncology’s Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, Business Standards, Shared Values, confidentiality requirements, and HIPAA regulations.

• Carry out additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• A minimum of two (2) years of combined experience in medical billing and payment is required.

• Familiarity with state, federal, and third-party claims processing is essential.

• Understanding of state and federal collections guidelines is necessary.

• Must complete all required e-learning courses within 90 days of starting the position.

• Ability to adhere to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines concerning patient records.

• Must be able to sit and use a computer keyboard and mouse on a regular basis.

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, and lift or move up to 30 pounds.

• Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal ranges.
