This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.
• Engage in, assist with, and help lead initiatives and programs related to applied psychology.
• Aid in the planning and management of programs covering various applied psychology subjects, such as the future of work, educational methodologies, climate and sustainability psychology, and human-technology interactions.
• Oversee projects from the initial planning stage to execution, including organizing workstreams, tracking milestones, coordinating contributors, anticipating subsequent steps, and taking on increasing responsibility.
• Assist in the development and execution of webinars, conference presentations, and other events.
• Create content, coordinate speakers and logistics, and ensure effective follow-up after events.
• Write clear, precise, and practical materials that convey applied psychological science to nonacademic audiences.
• Facilitate engagement with both internal and external stakeholders, which includes organizing meetings, tracking action items, creating follow-up strategies, and nurturing relationships.
• Present at internal APA meetings, external webinars, or conferences as required.
• Professionally represent and advocate for applied psychology, demonstrating sound judgment and collaboration.
• Collaborate with APA Advocacy on various policy or legislative initiatives.
• Support literature reviews, survey design, data analysis, and report writing for projects like APA’s Work in America™.
• Work together on Psychology Team initiatives and handle administrative and operational tasks, which include scheduling, document organization, webpage updates, budget management, and tracking deadlines.
• Seek professional development in areas such as science translation, program development, relationship-building, stakeholder engagement, and project leadership.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• PhD in an applied subdiscipline of psychology.
• A broad intellectual curiosity spanning various areas of applied psychology.
• A strong desire to work as an applied psychology generalist.
• Strong skills in project management.
• Exceptional interpersonal abilities and a proven track record in building trust with internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Evidence of project ownership and the capacity to help lead and coordinate teams.
• Excellent practical writing and editing skills tailored for both academic and nonacademic audiences.
• Proficient in visually presenting complex quantitative information.
• Outstanding oral communication and presentation capabilities.
• Strong literature research and review competencies.
• A solid foundation in research methods and statistics, including both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
• A proven history of research and writing.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Word.
