This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.
• Engage in, support, and assist in leading applied psychology programs and initiatives.
• Contribute to the planning and management of programs related to applied psychology subjects, including the future of work, education, climate change, conservation, sustainability psychology, and human-technology interaction.
• Oversee projects from the planning stage to execution, which includes organizing workstreams, monitoring milestones, coordinating contributors, anticipating subsequent steps, and progressively taking ownership.
• Assist with webinars, conference presentations, and other events by developing content, coordinating speakers, managing logistics, and ensuring follow-through.
• Create clear, accurate, and practical materials that convey applied psychological science to nonacademic audiences.
• Manage engagement with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating meetings, action items, follow-up strategies, and building relationships.
• Present at internal American Psychological Association (APA) meetings, external webinars, or conferences.
• Represent and advocate for applied psychology with professionalism, sound judgment, and teamwork.
• Collaborate with APA Advocacy on policy or legislative initiatives.
• Assist in conducting literature reviews, developing surveys, analyzing data, and writing reports for initiatives such as APA’s Work in America™.
• Work jointly on Psychology Team initiatives and handle administrative and operational tasks, which include scheduling, document organization, webpage updates, budget management, and deadline tracking.
• Seek professional growth in science translation, program development, relationship-building, stakeholder engagement, and project leadership.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• PhD in an applied subdiscipline of psychology.
• A wide intellectual curiosity across various fields of applied psychology.
• Strong desire to work as an applied psychology generalist.
• Excellent project management capabilities.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trust with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated evidence of project ownership and the capability to help lead and coordinate teams.
• Exceptional practical writing and editing skills for both academic and nonacademic audiences.
• Strong proficiency in visually presenting complex quantitative data.
• Excellent oral communication and presentation abilities.
• Strong literature research and review skills.
• Solid background in research methods and statistics, encompassing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
• Proven track record of research and writing.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel.
• User proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Qualtrics, Microsoft Teams, PsycNet, online research, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini.
