Applied AI Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Develop innovative AI-driven product features from concept to launch

• Enhance existing AI processes to improve quality, reliability, latency, and user satisfaction

• Design and execute LLM-based workflows, along with structured outputs, validation logic, and fallback mechanisms

• Create evaluation loops, tests, and quality assurance procedures for AI-generated results

• Incorporate AI functionalities into current products and backend infrastructures

• Collaborate with both commercial and open-source LLMs without being restricted to a single provider

• Facilitate self-hosted model workflows where they are beneficial for quality, speed, cost, or control

• Troubleshoot AI feature issues across inputs, outputs, data, backend logic, and user experiences

• Utilize AI development tools as an integral part of your daily activities

• Deliver products rapidly while maintaining high production standards

• Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams, taking responsibility for technical decisions and results

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient software engineering abilities, particularly in Python or a similar backend language

• Experience in creating AI-powered product features or LLM-based workflows

• Capability to transform vague product concepts into functional software swiftly

• Strong grasp of designing, testing, validating, and refining AI outputs

• Proven experience in integrating AI workflows into production environments

• Excellent debugging skills across application logic, data, model outputs, and user-facing functionalities

• Familiarity with evaluation, testing, validation, or quality assurance for AI-generated outputs

• Significant experience with AI development tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, or similar in your daily routine

• High intelligence, rapid learning ability, proactive approach, and ownership mindset

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, making swift decisions, and thriving in a high-trust startup atmosphere

• Proficient in written and spoken English

• Experience in frontend or fullstack product development

• Knowledge of self-hosted LLMs, model serving, inference optimization, or comparable systems

• Familiarity with open-source LLMs and related deployment processes

• Expertise in enhancing latency, cost, quality, or reliability of AI systems

• Background in healthcare software, healthcare data, or regulated settings

• Experience with structured data extraction, documentation automation, voice workflows, or workflow automation

• Proficiency in the German language

• Understanding of nursing homes or elderly care processes
