Application Engineer – Industrial Adhesives, Tapes

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Propel growth by collaborating with customers, developing new applications, and commercializing products.

• Utilize 3M's technology portfolio to implement Customer Inspired Innovation initiatives.

• Aid business growth strategies in the electronics, automotive, appliance, and general industrial sectors through application development and replication.

• Partner with key decision-makers in manufacturing to create applications for bonding solutions.

• Offer product recommendations, evaluate applications, and provide quality resolution support.

• Deliver product and market-focused training via in-person interactions and webinars.

• Establish go-to market materials by analyzing product performance, conducting competitive comparisons, and assessing market trends.

• Organize and lead customer field trials.

• Assess local competition and marketing strategies.

• Enhance understanding of market and technology trends, converting processes, automation technologies, and industry standards.

• Contribute to value propositions for commercialization.

• Extract market insights from key sectors to assist in strategic decision-making.

• Adhere to safety policies, recognize hazards, and engage in ongoing EHS improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Materials, Chemical, Mechanical, or a related discipline).

• 3–5 years of experience in application engineering or technical support within relevant markets.

• Proficiency and knowledge in adhesives, bonding tapes, single coated tapes, and/or labels.

• Familiarity and hands-on experience with tape converting processes.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform customer requirements into technical solutions.

• Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and testing data.

• Experience in supporting product validation, troubleshooting, and customer trials.

• Capable of conveying technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, R&D, and manufacturing teams.

• Good command of English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese, both written and spoken.

• Willingness to travel for customer engagements, trials, or training as required, with an expected 25% out-of-town travel.
