This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain sophisticated business process management applications utilizing the Appian low-code platform.
• Manage the program's Appian instance, which includes overseeing cloud platform administration, configuring environments, and handling deployment management.
• Provide operations and maintenance support, including bug fixes and minor enhancements (under 200 hours) for approximately 26 active Appian workflows that assist various regulatory program offices.
• Configure and enhance workflow processes, forms, records, and interfaces for regulatory review, content management, and search functionalities.
• Integrate Appian workflows with external APIs, content management systems, forms management platforms, and messaging services.
• Lead and mentor junior developers by offering technical guidance and conducting code reviews according to Appian development standards.
• Implement artificial intelligence and large language model features within Appian workflows to streamline document processing and data extraction.
• Assist with release planning, unit and integration testing, Section 508 accessibility compliance, and preparation of release packages in line with the agency's lifecycle process.
• A Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical discipline; alternatively, an additional four years of relevant application development experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
• A minimum of 8 years of application development experience, with at least 5 years of direct hands-on Appian development.
• Current Appian certification; DMI's screening standard requires Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer status.
• Appian Certified Lead Developer credential is necessary.
• Proven experience in Appian platform administration, including management of the Appian Cloud environment, deployment, and configuration management.
• Demonstrated capability in maintaining and enhancing a production portfolio of Appian process models and applications within an operations and maintenance context.
• Experience in integrating Appian with external systems via application programming interfaces and web services.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship to fellow Appian developers.
• Capacity to obtain and maintain a Moderate Risk (Tier 2) Public Trust background investigation and a government PIV credential.
• Experience with Appian 25.x on the Appian Cloud platform-as-a-service.
• Familiarity with integrating Appian with Documentum, Adobe Experience Manager, Apache Kafka, or Apache Solr.
• Experience in embedding artificial intelligence or large language model services into Appian process automation.
• Familiarity with federal regulatory, licensing, or submission review workflows.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
